TUSCANY DAY

Frédéric Chaslin conductor
Gile Bae piano

CHOPIN Piano Concerto No.1 Op.11
MENDELSSOHN Symphony No.3 Op.56 Scottish

The Frenchman Frédéric Chaslin is a pianist and composer who came to the wand by assisting Daniel Barenboim and Pierre Boulez. After which he led the Opera di Rouen, Orchestra sinfonica di Gerusalemme, (The Symphony Orchestra of Jerusalem) the Mannheim National Theater and the Santa Fe Opera. The scheduled Symphony No.3 by Mendelssohn is a score that paints the spirit, landscapes and scorching climate of Scotland. All together it tries to preserve the traditional architectural features of the symphonic genre inherited by Beethoven by gluing the four movements together to create a single musical arch.
In further listening to the Concert No. 1, Chopin left Poland in 1830 to explore the rest of Europe, but stopped in Paris.
Gile Bae is a Dutch-Korean pianist who leads the piece at just 20 years old which is the same age Chopin was when he wrote it.
