Michele Campanella, one of the greatest Italian pianists, is an authentic intellectual of music. After more than half a century of career, he is now so resistant to other conductors that when he is called to play with an orchestra, he prefers to guide it to himself. For his return to the ORT, he opted for all Mozart’s work. Specifically from the era when Mozart, after having abruptly abandoned his orchestral seat in Salzburg, chose to live in Vienna and became a freelancer. The two Concertos are strong pieces, the sun and the moon, written a few months apart from each other during the development of the Nozze di Figaro. The K.488 was released at the beginning of 1786 and the bright and vibrant major key K.491 was a few weeks later. Campanella plays two other minor pages that show Mozart’s most introspective and whimsical perspective in which the nineteenth century gave a preview of romantic moods: Rondò K.511 and Fantasia K.475.
