Nicola Piovani conductor
Music from films of Taviani Brothers, Benigni and Fellini
An Oscar winner is on the podium of the ORT. He is here conducting the music that made him famous by featuring it in Italian cinema in recent decades. The composer, Nicola Piovani, won an Oscar in 1999 for the soundtrack of the film La vita è Bella by Roberto Benigni. He started his career beginning in the early 70s in scores for the big screen but also for theater, television and the music industry. Giovani, being a Roman, has worked with all the great Italian directors. He has close relationships especially with Marco Bellocchio, Federico Fellini ( who took the place of the missing Nino Rota in his last three films: David of Donatello award for Ginger e Fred, and the silver ribbon for La Voce Della Luna), Mario Monicelli, Luigi Magni, Nanni Moretti (David di Donatello award for Caro diario and La stanza del figlio), and the brothers Taviani and Benigni (Silver ribbon for Pinocchio and La Voce della luna).
