    An evening entirely dedicated to Johannes Brahms brings together Diego Ceretta, the Orchestra della Toscana and pianist Pietro De Maria.

    The programme opens with the Piano Concerto No. 2, Op. 83, a sweeping work that combines virtuosic writing, chamber-like density and a strong integration between piano and orchestra. The almost symphonic dimension of the score places the soloist in a continuous dialogue with the orchestral sections.

    In the second half, the ORT tackles the Symphony No. 3, Op. 90, a compact and intense work, characterised by a particular variety of expressive qualities and one of the most intimate finales in Brahms’ symphonic output. The concert forms part of the celebrations for the Festa della Toscana.
