Transfer of the ORT to Mantua with the production dedicated to Beethoven with which Diego Ceretta, twenty-six years old, will have made his debut the day before in Florence as principal conductor of the ORT. And for the Teatro Sociale – which celebrated 200 years of history in 2022 – the young director will bring a tailor-made programme. He will be conducting two number 5s of his catalogue of the titan Beethoven: The Piano Concerto named Emperor and the Fifth, that is, the symphony of symphonies, an absolute masterpiece. The entire score takes shape from four notes (the famous incipit of three short and one long, the so-called “theme of destiny”), grandiose and concise at the same time, which speaks to the listener with immediacy and titanic vigor. Titanic, too, is the title of the concert, “Emperor”, referring to Napoleon. It was attributed by the publisher in virtue of the military character of this score that Beethoven offered to Archduke Rudolf of Habsburg-Lorraine, a Florentine by birth being the son of Grand Duke Pietro Leopoldo, the very one we are celebrating with the Tuscany Festival. The soloist of this cornerstone of the piano repertoire is Alessandro Taverna.
