    The final event on the programme for Musica Diffusa is dedicated to the intimate and exquisite sounds of Mozart’s chamber music. The programme features the String Quintets K 515 and K 516 by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, composed by the maestro at the height of his artistic maturity, during the final five years before his death. They will be performed by musicians from the Orchestra della Toscana, coming together as the String Quintet.

    The distinctive feature of this chamber ensemble is the addition of a second viola to the classic string quartet (2 violins, 1 viola, 1 cello). This choice enriches the soundscape with warm, deep nuances, bringing out the soft, melancholic timbre of the instrument. This gives rise to a refined dialogue between the five instruments, characterised by a unique and unmistakable sound: the colour of the violas.

    Musica Diffusa, the ORT’s music festival which takes place across all five districts of Florence, forms part of AUTUNNO FIORENTINO, organised by the Municipality of Florence with the support of the Directorate-General for Performing Arts of the Ministry of Culture.

    It is organised in collaboration with Fondazione Solidarietà Caritas ETS Firenze. We would like to thank Fondazione Leopolda, Comunità di San Leolino – Certosa di Firenze and Fondazione Teatro della Toscana for their hospitality.
