At Villa Medicea La Petraia, the Orchestra della Toscana presents an evening dedicated to the elegance and imagination of early European Romanticism.

On the podium, Julio Garcia Vico conducts a programme that combines Mendelssohn’s imaginative lyricism with Neruda’s concertante brilliance, featuring Donato De Sena as trumpet soloist. The overture Das Märchen von der schönen Melusine opens the evening with a suspended, fairy-tale atmosphere, followed by the famous Concerto for Trumpet and Orchestra, a work of great virtuosity and cantabile. The concert concludes with Mendelssohn’s Symphony No. 4, Op. 90, ‘Italian’, imbued with the light, energy and colours of the composer’s Italian journey.

A concert without an interval, part of the tenth edition of Ville e Giardini incantati, where music engages with the timeless charm of the Medici villas.
