Two of the most brilliant works in their respective catalogues for an Easter concert that focuses on energy, inventiveness and freshness. On the podium will be Min Gyu Song, a young South Korean conductor with precise and natural gestures, winner of the Cantelli Prize in 2024, now rapidly rising through the ranks of the major European orchestras.

Opening is Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart‘s Concerto No. 5 in A major for violin and orchestra K 219, known as “Türkish” for the episode in the finale imitating Ottoman bands. Composed in 1775, it is among the most theatrical of his violin concertos, with lyrical passages and brilliant outbursts that make it a fascinating challenge for the performer. It is performed by Simon Zhu, a German violinist of Chinese origin, born in 2001, winner of the Paganini Competition in 2023, praised for his maturity, precision and stage presence.

Ludwig van Beethoven‘s Symphony No. 8 in F major op. 93, perhaps the most compact and ironic of his symphonies, closes: full of rhythmic humour, funny allusions, but also constructive energy. An Easter farewell between rigour and a smile.
