The programme offers a dialogue between two souls of nineteenth-century music: on the one hand, the classical structure that opens up new perspectives; on the other, the energy of a young composer who reworks the past with freshness. The concert opens with Ludwig van Beethoven‘s Concerto in D major for violin and orchestra, Op. 61, composed in 1806: a masterpiece that combines formal balance, cantabile and moments of intense expressiveness.

The concert, which will also be presented at the Teatro Garibaldi in Figline, features violinist Kerson Leong, a Canadian performer appreciated for his absolute control of the bow, deep sound and clarity of phrasing.

Conducting is Umberto Clerici, former principal cellist of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra and current principal conductor of the Queensland Symphony. Clerici is a musician attentive to form and narrative, capable of combining precision and natural gestures.

The concert will close with Franz Schubert‘s Symphony No. 3 in D major, D 200, composed when he was only eighteen: a brilliant, lively piece, balancing Haydn‘s spirit with the first unmistakable traits of his own voice. A light and lively finale.
