The Teatro Signorelli in Cortona welcomes the Orchestra della Toscana’s 2025 Christmas Concert, a musical event that combines refinement, emotion, and masterpieces from the great symphonic tradition. Conducting the orchestra is Nicolò Jacopo Suppa, a young talent who has already been applauded in many Italian seasons for his clear and passionate interpretation. At his side is cellist Ettore Pagano, one of the most interesting performers of the new generation, appreciated for his authentic expressiveness and enveloping sound.

The program opens with the sparkling overture from Rossini’s Il signor Bruschino, full of verve and theatrical vivacity. This is followed by Tchaikovsky’s Andante cantabile, taken from his first string quartet and reworked for orchestra, in which the cello sings with an intense and melancholic voice.

At the heart of the concert is Stravinsky’s Suite italienne No. 1, a refined dialogue between past and present: 18th-century melodies, attributed in part to Pergolesi, are reinterpreted with modern taste and ironic lightness. The grand finale is Mozart’s magnificent Symphony No. 41 “Jupiter,” the summa of classical thought, capable of combining energy, intelligence, and wonder.
