Music is the second language for Andrea Battistoni, born in 1987, raised in Verona by a pianist mother and a melomaniac father. His love for music started only after years of study, during a concert with the orchestra of the Conservatory, taking up the cello. Thanks to playing together, an individual feels part of a large community and the orchestra is “an instrument made of musicians”, therefore he chose the podium as a profession. So much so that today he is the principal conductor of the Tokyo Philharmonic. And he also expresses his musical talent in composition, which fills up every free moment he has. This time with the ORT – invited for the second time this season – he also presents himself as a composer. Indeed, as a ‘translator’ for orchestra of a piano collection by Robert Schumann, the Infantile Scenes (1838), fifteen small images of family life, experienced by a sensitive child but filtered by the sensitivity of a poet. The programme is completed by the Overture in the Italian style with which the twenty-year-old Schubert imitates Rossini, the trendiest composer in Europe in the second and third decades of the 19th century, and the Suite Op. 43 by Tchaikovsky.
