Riccardo Bisatti, still very young, is establishing himself as one of the most promising Italian revelations in conducting. He is entrusted with the task of conducting this programme that celebrates, on the 100th anniversary of his death, one of the glories of Tuscan music, Ferruccio Busoni, by re-proposing that Berceuse élégiaque of which Gustav Mahler conducted the world première on 21 February 1911 in New York, in what would remain the last concert of his life.

To recall the friendship that had bound him to Ferruccio Busoni, Mahler is also present, caught in the plane of his youth with a page from his early days, the andante Blumine originally intended for the First Symphony. The United States, which had seen that friendship blossom, was also the backdrop for the imaginative and daring creativity of Charles Edward Ives, whose 150th birthday falls in 2024: we could not fail to remember him too, adding to the programme one of his most original and fascinating pages, The unanswered question.

Another young man who has just come to international prominence is Simon Zhu, who came from Germany to win the 2023 ‘Paganini’ Competition, and who will be the soloist in Pyotr Il’ič Tchaikovsky‘s Concerto for Violin and Orchestra.
