    On Saturday 26 September, musicians, friends and people who knew Andrea Tacchi, or who have heard of him or come across stories about him, will gather at the Teatro Verdi in Florence, ten years after his death.

    Andrea Tacchi was one of the founders of the ORT and its first violinist from the very beginning. For many years, from his music stand, he led the orchestra, helping to shape its sound and identity. But even this is not enough to do him justice. Andrea possessed the far less common gift of making music feel like something alive, essential and shared. And he had a presence that needed no introduction: all it took was his violin, a glance at his colleagues and that unmistakable cloud of white curls.

    We did not envisage a formal celebration, nor just another concert. Instead, we imagined a home open for a whole day: the Teatro Verdi, which was truly a home for Andrea and for the ORT. Taking turns on stage will be people who shared music, work, friendship and moments of life with him.
