The Teatro degli Animosi in Carrara hosts the grand finale of the season curated by Diego Ceretta, concluding his third year as principal conductor of the Orchestra della Toscana (ORT) with a programme that blends contemporary creativity, solo virtuosity, and nineteenth-century symphonic mastery.

The evening opens with a world premiere by Matteo Rubini, commissioned by the ORT Foundation. Born in Parma in 1976, Rubini’s work explores meditative textures, intertwining modality, consonance, and contrapuntal structures from classical tradition, reimagined in a modern context.

Next is Jacques Ibert’s Concerto for Flute and Orchestra (1934), a 20th-century gem combining elegance, wit, and virtuosic brilliance. The soloist, Silvia Careddu, internationally acclaimed flutist and former principal of the Vienna Philharmonic, delivers technical precision and crystalline expressiveness.

The concert concludes with Johannes Brahms’ Symphony No. 2 in D major, Op. 73 (1877), a serene masterpiece balancing luminous melodies, romantic warmth, and emotional depth, showcasing the perfect harmony between expressive intensity and formal rigour.

An unforgettable classical music event in Carrara, highlighting new compositions, virtuosic performance, and timeless symphonic works.
