A fascinating journey through Italian music, ranging from bold experimentation to more traditional melody.

We start with Luciano Berio‘s Opus number zoo, a work that explores sonic chaos and silence in a continuous dialogue between dissonant sounds and quieter moments. Berio creates a musical microcosm that challenges the listener to listen to every little detail. The second part instead gives us Piccola offerta musicale by Nino Rota, a work that, despite its brevity, embodies his mastery of the art of miniature. The light and delicate pieces convey all the irony and elegance typical of the composer.

Next, the Fantasia from some of Giacomo Puccini‘s most famous operas. Each theme offers an immersion in the strong and contrasting emotions that characterise these operas, from the youthful dreams of La Bohème to the tragedy of Tosca, passing through the sweetness of Madama Butterfly and the majestic solemnity of Turandot.

The concert closes with the Overture from Nabucco by Giuseppe Verdi, a symbol of hope and struggle that still echoes today as a cry for freedom. A programme that embraces the great Italian musical tradition, exploring the past and future of our sound culture.
