    The new symphonic season opens under the baton of Diego Ceretta, principal conductor of the Orchestra della Toscana.

    The star of the evening is Francesca Dego, performing the Italian premiere of Io cammino muovendo le dita for Violin solo (2025) by Nicola Campogrande and Johannes Brahms’s Concerto for Violin and Orchestra, Op. 77, one of the most significant works in the Romantic violin repertoire. The juxtaposition of a new solo work and the great nineteenth-century concerto gives the first half a broad and varied profile.

    The programme concludes with Symphony No. 6, Op. 74 “Pathetique” by Pëtr Il’ič Čajkovskij, the composer’s final symphony, marked by a powerful expressive intensity and orchestral writing of great dramatic tension.
