The Carnival Concert of the Orchestra of Tuscany, conducted by Marco Pierobon – also trumpet soloist – is a tribute to the city that has most profoundly shaped the musical imagination of the 20th century: New York. A journey through cinema, jazz, and musical theater that pays tribute to three giants of composition: Ennio Morricone, John Kander, and George Gershwin. This extraordinary concert will take place at the Teatro Comunale Garibaldi in Figline, a venue rich in tradition and charm, where the magic of music will come to life, offering the audience an exciting experience immersed in the unique sounds and atmosphere of New York.

New York is dream and ambition, rhythm and modernity, and on this evening its essence comes alive through arrangements that highlight its unique character. The boundless ocean and the promise of a new life echo in Morricone’s notes for The Legend of 1900, where a cry shatters the silence and the piano moves like a wave that carries destiny. Then, the dazzling lights of Broadway shine with Kander, a composer of seductive and ironic melodies capable of turning every song into a little show within the show: from the magnetism of All That Jazz to the defiant energy of Cell Block Tango, passing through the sarcasm and theatricality of We Both Reached for the Gun.

Finally, New York becomes symphonic with Gershwin, where swing meets orchestra and jazz blends with classical music: from Fascinatin’ Rhythm to the Concerto in F, to the overwhelming emotion of the pages from Porgy and Bess, with its blend of blues, gospel, and timeless lyricism.

A concert that tells the story of the city that never sleeps, with music made of light and shadows, euphoria and melancholy, and finds its perfect stage at the Teatro Comunale Garibaldi in Figline, a place that combines tradition and innovation, celebrating the myth of Broadway and the musical, the beating heart of the Big Apple. Every note is a story, every melody a journey through time and space.
