New works and the classical repertoire come together in the programme conducted by Giampaolo Pretto.

The Orchestra della Toscana opens the concert with the world premiere of Due rituali, for female voice and orchestra, a new commission from the ORT Foundation to Danilo Karim Kaddouri, featuring the mezzo-soprano Akiko Kozato. The presence of the voice introduces a theatrical and ritual dimension that engages in dialogue with the orchestral ensemble.

The concert takes place at the Teatro Garibaldi in Figline, which welcomes the Orchestra della Toscana for this evening of new music and classical repertoire.

This is followed by Carl Maria von Weber’s Concertino for Horn and Orchestra, Op. 45, performed by the ORT’s principal horn player Andrea Mancini – a brilliant and virtuosic piece from the Romantic horn repertoire.

The programme concludes with Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony No. 2, Op. 36, a work still rooted in the classical tradition yet already imbued with a powerful, driving energy.
