    In the evocative setting of the countryside that gave origin and inspiration to the poetess Dina Ferri, her figure comes back to life for one evening amidst sounds and verses.

    In the timeless atmosphere of the Abbey of San Galgano, the intense voice of Sonia Bergamasco will interpret the poems of the young Tuscan writer, who died prematurely at only twenty-two years of age.

    The readings will be accompanied by the delicate sonorities of the Orchestra della Toscana, under the direction of the talented Davide Trolton: a musical journey that starts with the luminosity of “Il mattino” from Grieg‘s Peer Gynt, where the wind instruments intone a sweet motif and the strings lightly lead towards a crescendo evoking dawn.

    It continues with the reflective calm of Honegger‘s Pastorale d’été, characterised by an intimate lyricism far removed from the energy of his other works; and concludes with the brilliant Symphony No. 92 “Oxford”, so named because it was performed in 1791 on the occasion of the awarding of an honorary degree to Haydn by Oxford University.
